About the Event
CATS will be partnering with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) to build a new trail at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space. We have reserved a limited number of volunteer slots for this VOC project - after you sign up here, you will be given instructions on how to register with VOC using one of our reserved slots. Camping is available, meals provided by VOC.

From the VOC event description:

Colorado Lottery Presents: Trail Construction @ Horsetooth Mountain Open Space

What You'll Do:
Join us for our final camping project of the season! You'll spend the weekend camping at Horsetooth Reservoir and working with approximately 80 volunteers to break ground on a new, natural surface trail out of the Soderberg Trailhead. Tasks will be moderately difficult with both basic trail construction as well as the opportunity to build structures and switchbacks. Meals will be provided by our volunteer Crew Chefs.

Why It Matters:
Horsetooth Mountain Open Space is incredibly popular: a recent study revealed a total of 225,000 annual visits! Currently, a 10-foot-wide crusher fine gravel trail is the only trail from Soderberg Trailhead to the open space's trail system. The trail you help build will provide a second connection from this popular trailhead while creating an easy, short loop for families and novice users. It will also help spread out visitors, reducing both user conflict and the impact on nature. This project is strongly supported by the community, stakeholders, and user groups who were all consulted in the process of updating the management plan.
