Terms and Conditions

Following are the terms of participating as a volunteer, as well as receiving (or electing not to receive) an honorarium / gift card - please note all optional choices can be opted into or out of on site during your volunteer shift:


  • Please read and follow the St. James Town Co-op’s COVID-19 policy.
  • You will be asked COVID-19 screening questions upon arrival to your shift
  • You agree to let us know if you experience COVID-19 symptoms, or find out that you came into contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 prior to your in-person volunteering, as soon as possible, with no exceptions.
  • You understand that if you come to your volunteering shift with probable or confirmed COVID-19, you are putting the community and programming at risk.

Volunteer commitment:

  • You agree to commit to the time slot you signed up for or give sufficient notice for any changes.
  • You agree to be respectful of other volunteers and staff - we are a human rights based co-operative (see Code of Conduct).
  • Should you have a COVID-19 contact, you MUST NOT attend your shift but isolate at home. We will make sure you have more opportunity to volunteer after your isolation, should you wish.

Photo release (optional)

  • Do you grant permission to the St. James Town Community Co-op to reproduce photos taken of you on this day of your volunteering, for the purposes of the organization’s promotions? This could include: social media posts, website posts, flyers or brochures. This DOES NOT include using photographs in a manner that would exploit or cause malicious representation toward you.
  • If you agree to the photo release terms, please initial the box on the volunteer log indicating so

Honorarium (optional)

  • As a thank you for volunteering your time, we are able to offer a $20 honorarium or gift card for a volunteer packing or delivery shift. You may receive honorarium for multiple shifts worked, however, additional partial shifts will not qualify you for your partial honorarium.
  • The honorarium and gift cards are meant to be a token of appreciation and not meant to cover an hourly wage
  • You may only receive a maximum of $500 total in honorarium from the St. James Town Community Co-op per year, as per CRA guidelines. We will keep track of the value of honorariums you have received, and inform you before you reach this limit.
