Event Details
23 - 24 February 2022
Sacramento
CA, United States
About the Event
We are the lead agency for the Sacramento Continuum of Care (CoC)—the regional planning body that coordinates housing and services for homeless families and individuals in Sacramento.
The 2022 Point-In-Time (PIT) Count is a source of data on the prevalence and characteristics of unsheltered homelessness used for multiple federal and state funding formulas. Occurring every other year, this unsheltered count is mandated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The PIT Count is a community-wide effort made possible by the incredible support of many volunteers and partners. You can get involved with street canvassing, set up/clean up, check in/check out, and more!
Requirements
-Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (i.e., 2 shots of Pfizer/Moderna, 1 shot of Johnson & Johnson) and can present proof
-Must be healthy and not display any cold/flu/COVID-19 symptoms at events
-Must be at least 18 years of age to participate
-Must be willing/able to use personal supplies (e.g., smartphones, flashlights)
-Must be willing/able to travel by foot or car
-Must attend 1 canvasser training session: https://conta.cc/3t3pBgN
-Must sign up for volunteer shifts
We will do our best to match you to your preferred shifts/locations and team members. However, you may be assigned other duties based on the need.
PIT Count street canvassing teams typically consist of approximately 4 members. Because actual team size varies based on the number of volunteers recruited and map area-specific needs, we cannot pre-register people into specific teams with friends and family. However, we will do our best at the deployment centers to place people into teams of the size needed for a successful count with friends and family who have also completed the volunteer registration process and meet the volunteering requirements. Please note, it is unlikely that groups of greater than 4 will be sent out together. To maximize your chances of being deployed with your friends and family, please wait to sign in at the deployment center until all members of your party have arrived.
