Volunteer Code of Conduct

Thank you for volunteering with the Rat Creek Press Association (RCPA), we look forward to serving our communities with you! Below are the expectations for all volunteers to adhere to.

Volunteers must make every effort to fulfill their assigned responsibilities, or notify the appropriate staff member if this is not possible.

Volunteers must sign up for volunteer tasks on timecounts.org/rat-creek-press and/or report unscheduled hours to the volunteer coordinator.

Volunteers must demonstrate a positive awareness of the RCPA and its projects by familiarizing themselves with the website and the paper, and representing the organization positively to the public.

Volunteers must treat other volunteers, board members, staff and the public with respect. Discriminatory remarks, gestures, or attitudes of any kind will not be tolerated, including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, and transphobia. This extends to personal use of social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The RCPA believes in fostering a climate of inclusion, and while the association encourages debate and differing opinions we do not condone discrimination of any kind.

Volunteers must not, in connection with any RCPA activity:
Report for duty having consumed drugs or alcohol likely to render themselves unfit or unsafe for work;
Consume or be under the influence of illegal substances while on duty.

Any volunteer who violates policies or codes of conduct may be subject to disciplinary actions at the discretion of the Board.

Volunteer Rights

To be identified as a volunteer.
To be properly informed about the RCPA, its policies, programs, and procedures.
To know what is expected of you and feel comfortable with assigned tasks, or in requesting a change in duties.
To be recognized and appreciated for your contributions to the RCPA.
