Volunteer Opportunities:

Canvassing- Volunteers will hang door hangers in neighborhoods throughout Louisville to do community outreach in order to recruit for more First Line Weatherization clients throughout the year.

First Line Volunteers- can volunteer daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, bimonthly or quarterly throughout the year.
No skills needed except for interpersonal skills and to be conscientious of clients' situations, and have a willingness to learn new weatherization skills from our Volunteer Coordinator, Delano Ray and Weatherization Specialist, Don Hill.

There are three levels a volunteer can progress to within our First Line Weatherization program:
Level 1: Hanging interior plastic window coverings, discuss basic energy saving tips with residents, assess for other needs: smoke alarms, missing primary glass in windows, changing the furnace filter.
Level 2: Caulking windows, installing weatherstripping on doors, Seal missing window panes with insulation board, Seal around window a/c units, measure windows for replacement glass, replace/install locks on doors.
Level 3: Seal air leaks in walls and ceilings, replace glass, check vent & cold air return ducts if needed, etc.

Office volunteers - can volunteer weekly, biweekly, monthly, bimonthly or quarterly throughout the year.
Skills needed: Interpersonal skills, Conscientious of client situations, phone etiquette
Responsibilities can include: Answering phones, calling clients and potential clients, making copies, filing, compiling energy education materials, data entry, Assembling workshop bags, etc.

Energy Management Workshop Assistant- Helping assemble kits for the workshop, carrying kits from the car to the site of the workshop, carry window/other materials to the site of the workshop, creating E.M. materials/ making copies if needed.

Blitz volunteers- Needed later in the year. Recruitment for Blitz volunteers will begin in late summer, (August 2022). Volunteers will either be hanging interior plastic window coverings in client's homes (COVID permitting), or dropping off weatherization kits to homes throughout Louisville.
