About the Event
Health Care for the Homeless works to prevent and end homelessness for vulnerable individuals and families by providing quality, integrated health care and promoting access to affordable housing and sustainable incomes through direct service, advocacy and community engagement. The Health Care for the Homeless client needs assessment (2020) indicates that food insecurity is among the top three concerns our clients face regularly, and is the number one concern for 45% of our Spanish-speaking population and unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic has served to exacerbate the need for food provisions.

Unfortunately in Baltimore, many residents are impacted by food deserts [geographic areas where residents’ access to affordable, healthy food options is restricted or nonexistent due to the absence of grocery stores within convenient traveling distance].

We have received funding to help establish an in house food pantry that will allow us to serve our clients in getting non-perishable food that may not be available to them or accessible. We are looking for volunteers help us organize those items into produce boxes that will then be distributed.

This will happen every fourth Thursday of each month between 1-4:30.
