About the Assignment
Eva’s Initiatives for Homeless Youth provides safe shelter, supportive services, and long-term solutions to youth homelessness. For over 15 years, Home For Life, has been a signature annual event that raises vital funds for shelter and new opportunities for homeless and at-risk youth living at Eva’s. Attendees experience an exciting virtual home by top Toronto designers and bid on over $300,000 worth of furniture, housewares, entertainment, trips, and experiences; while, enjoying fabulous food and drinks and a curated exhibit of art made by young residents at Eva’s shelter and transitional housing facilities. As an Event Committee Member your role will be to ensure the success with the overall budget and fundraising goals of the event.

What We’re Looking For
• Ability to work as a team and share ideas and also work independently on tasks assigned outside of scheduled meetings
• Have a large social network that can be engaged as potential event attendees/participants, donors or sponsors
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal, written, relationship management and communication skills
• Previous experience working directly with homeless, formerly homeless, and marginally housed youth is an asset
• Experience working with diverse populations with a sound understanding of principles of anti-oppression
• Must be able to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 3 hours weekly between January and June and attend monthly meetings
•Mandatory orientation/ training session prior to the commencement of volunteering
What You’ll Be Doing
• Securing sponsorship & ticket sales
• Contacting businesses to ask for sponsorship or ticket sales
• Bringing forward new potential sponsors
• Collecting of live and/or silent auction items
• Mandatory orientation/ training session prior to the commencement of volunteering
