Must commit to volunteering for 3 hours weekly Monday to Friday between 9-5 pm on a consistent day. Exact schedule TBD.

About the Assignment
The Cooking Program Facilitator Volunteer will lead weekly afternoon cooking sessions; while aiding to create a welcoming environment for young people and promoting health and wellness, nutrition, and healthy relationships in a fun and non-judgmental environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Planning / Facilitating biweekly three-hour long cooking/ nutrition workshops for young people
  • Aiding with set up and cleanup of the program
  • Engaging with youth during programming
  • Cooking food for large groups of people (up to 50)
  • Answering any questions youth have regarding health, nutrition and/or cooking
  • Creating a welcoming, non-judgmental environment for young people
What We’re Looking For
  • Must have previous experience cooking in a professional setting
  • Must have a background in nutrition or facilitating a healthy eating program
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Must have previous experience facilitating educational programming for youth
  • Previous experience working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness is an asset
  • Experience working with diverse populations with a sound understanding of principles of anti-oppression is an asset
  • Must be able to commit to volunteering for 3 hours weekly for a minimum of 6 months
  • A valid police record check within the last year or a willingness to complete one
  • Must possess a valid Food Handlers Certificate
  • Must have experience cooking diverse food for a large group of people
  • Must be 18 years or older
