Volunteers must be able to commit to volunteering for 3 hours weekly for a minimum of 6 months.

About the Assignment
The Volunteer Hairdresser will provide biweekly hair cutting services to the young people at Eva's Place; while aiding to create a welcoming environment for youth and promoting healthy relationships in a fun and non-judgmental environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Providing biweekly hair styling/ hair cutting services for all genders and all hair types
  • Aiding with the set up and cleanup of the program
  • Engaging with youth during the program
  • Answering any questions youth have regarding hair styling
  • Creating a welcoming, non-judgmental environment for youth
What We’re Looking For
  • Must have professional training in hair styling/ barbering for all genders and hair types
  • Must be able to provide your own supplies/ tools
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Previous experience working directly with homeless, formerly homeless, and marginally housed youth is an asset
  • Experience working with diverse populations with a sound understanding of principles of anti-oppression is an asset
  • Must be able to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 3 hours biweekly for 6 months
  • A valid Vulnerable Persons Record Check or a willingness to complete one
  • Must be 18 years or older
