About the Event
Be a Volunteer at the 2nd Annual Muddy River Marathon on April 30th, 2022. You'll be able to direct the runners and cheer them on! The course highlights many landmarks in Cape Girardeau, including the Bill Emerson Bridge, Common Pleas Courthouse, Dalhousie Golf Course, Old St. Vincent's Church, and more, as well as finishing along the Missouri Wall of Fame Mural.

Monitor traffic at Stonebridge crossing. Direct runners onto the footpath over the curb. Distribute hydration and nutrition to runners. Pick up cups/trash left by runners.

Direct runners who will be running on the right side of the road to cross at Blackford Ln., and continue to run on the left side of the road in the running lane. *NOTE: Once runners exit Dalhousie Dr., runners will use the running lane on the right side of Bloomfield Rd. At Blackford Ln., runners will cross the roadway then run on the left side of Bloomfield Rd.

Direct runners to turn left onto Hwy. 74, staying on the left side of the roadway in the designated runner's lane. *NOTE: Once runners exit Dalhousie Dr., runners will use the running lane on the right side of Bloomfield Rd. At Blackford Ln., runners will cross the roadway then run on the left side of Bloomfield Rd.

Control traffic merging onto Southern Expressway. Ensure cones and barricades are in place on main roads and intersections.

Early runners cross Sprigg St. need to be in the running lane or right side of the Southern Expressway. Late runners will be in the running lane on Sprigg St. Runners will crossover Southern Expressway at the stop sign before turning left into the running lane on the right side of Southern Expressway. Ensure cones and barricades are in place on main roads and intersections.

Marathon runners remain in the running lane on the right side of Southern Expressway. Monitor traffic with assistance from the police department at the Kingshighway Crossing. After Crossing the right lane of Mount Auburn is closed to runners only.

Runners will be in the right lane until the 4-way stop. At the 4-way stop, the runners cross to the left lane. Ensure that cones are properly placed along the roadway.

After runners loop around Langholm, direct them to turn right onto Dalhousie Dr. toward the neighborhood exit. *NOTE: Cones will be placed in the middle of Dalhousie Drive from the entrance of the subdivision to Langholm.
