About the Event
We invite you to join us for a live, virtual canning demo, with City Fruit volunteer, Pat Castillo! A workshop perfect for beginners, Pat will review some of the supplies needed for basic canning, share some of her preserving tips and tricks, and demo a wonderful plum jam recipe. We are currently accepting 25 participants for this virtual workshop -- please sign up here via TimeCounts and you'll receive the workshop Zoom link and event details prior to the session.

Curious about how City Fruit got started on canning? During the peak of harvest, City Fruit sometimes harvests more fruit than our food bank or diversion partners can take! To make good use of this excess fruit, City Fruit is exploring preservation options so that high quality, shelf-stable jam, jellies, preserves, chutneys, and more can be donated to Seattle food banks and meal programs.

Interested in volunteering to help us create these preserves?
Beginner canners are welcome to participate in future in-person jam-making volunteer sessions.
Experienced canners may pick up a portion of frozen fruit and jars from the City Fruit office and use one of our tested recipes to can some preserves at home! Volunteers can keep one of the jars in the batch, and the rest will be donated to local area food banks. Email Tiare (tiare@cityfruit.org) for more information.
About City Fruit
City Fruit harvests and stewards urban fruit trees to support sustainable and equitable access to fruit. Urban fruit trees are a valuable community resource. City Fruit started because tree owners did not have the avenues to share excess fruit and community members were not aware that they could harvest from public orchards. We help tree owners grow healthy fruit, provide assistance in harvestishow more
