Available Roles
Bartenderfull
Must be over 18 and must have smart serve. Position requires some bartending experience with good customer service skills, attention to detail.
Camera Operator
Operate video camera during speeches, awards, and concert. Requirements: Basic knowledge of a video cameras
Campground Registrationfull
Welcome the guests to the campground and provide them with some basic event information and directions to their campsite.
Caretaker
Ensure the event venue area is clean and garbage is picked up. Requirements: Able to lift full garbage bags
Entrance Tent
Greet the Blacksheep community as they enter the stadium and provide instructions to them on location of services. Answer questions to the public as they walk by. Put wristbands on people as required.
Feedzone Marshall
Nutrition and hydration play key roles in keeping Blacksheep members safe and performing their best on the course. Feeders are often team volunteers doing this team job for their first time. As Feedzone Marshal, you will be guiding all the parents, and other volunteer feeders to keep the feedzone the ideal place it is for water and food hand-offs.
Finish Line Supportfull
Finish Line Support Volunteers ensure Blacksheep members finish strong and make a smooth transition from competing to reuniting with parents, and families. The finish line is often the most hectic and is the most crowded part of the racecourse. Parents and families are crowding around to see their athletes finish and athletes come through exhausted, fatigued, and in need of someone to corral them out of the way. Finish line support volunteers allow athletes a clear, safe exit from the race course. A quick training session meeting at the finish line will orient you in this unique part of the course.
Food Table
Distribute food and non-alcoholic drinks to Blacksheep members, their families and guests. This person will be working with the Blacksheep team to ensure food safety is maintained. Knowledge of the TBDHU guidelines would be a key asset.
Kit Pickupfull
Assist the Blacksheep team in handing out race kits to all of the racers. This will be a busy time as you will meet al racers for the event. This is a great opportunity to assist in a key role for the events success and attention to detail is key to ensure no mistakes are made and to catch and report any issues as they arise. Must be over 16.
Merchandise Booth
Assist people with buying merchandise and use the POS to process orders. Must be over 16 and able to handle money and change.
Race Course Marshall
Course Marshals have an active role in ensuring safety on the course. Course Marshals stand at key marshal points along the course to warn riders of hazards, direct riders, ensure fair play and provide rapid response to incidents. Course Marshals may also act as crossing guards and/or league representatives to other trail users. Radios are provided to communicate report any incidents or to call in medical assistance. A note pad is provided to keep track of any outside support, rule violations and riders who abandon the race. Course Marshal’s can hike or ride bikes to their marshal points. Lastly, remember to cheer on those riders as they pass by! Locations along the course include: 1. Shuniah gate (marshall and support vehicle) 2. Grand Chasm/Doctors intersection 3. Hydro field/Cross-over 4. Top of Drift (marshall and support vehicle) 5. Bottom of Drift 6. Kinsmen Bridge
Registration Table
Sell tickets for food and drink. Sell event merchandise. Answer questions about the event. Requirements: Must be over 18 and be responsible with money.
Setup and Takedown
Build the stadium with a team of volunteers and race staff. A well built stadium brings excitement to the event. You will be starting with placing pins and poles for snow fencing and course tape, and erecting EZ UP tents. At the end of the day you will be placing flags and sponsor banners. It takes a full day, so you’ll be working with a quickly moving team. Unlike most race weekend volunteer positions you’ll learn all the skills as you go. Safety is key and we require gloves and eyewear so bring your own or use ours.
