Join Our Board!
We are looking for motivated, passionate community members to join our board of directors!

Alberta Avenue's AGM is coming up on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 and we have several critical executive positions, as well as a number of other board vacancies that we are hoping to fill this spring. The board of directors is responsible for governing and setting the direction of the league, and meets on the second Tuesday of every month in the evening (except in July and August). The time commitment is between 2 and 10 hours per month, depending on the position, and a summary of each position is below. All positions are two-year terms (2020-2022) unless otherwise noted. Please note that per our bylaws all board members must be elected at the AGM, and an application is not required to be nominated, however completing the applications is strongly recommended to help us learn a little about you and your interests before the AGM.

President- The President's main job, besides promoting and supporting the league, is to provide leadership, chair board meetings and to support and manage the board. This position is best suited to someone who is already familiar with Alberta Avenue Community League and has at least some board experience. The current President will stay on as Past-President to provide support as needed.

Vice-President- The VP's main job is to back-up the President in providing leadership and managing the board, including chairing meetings in the President's absence. This is a one-year term (2020-2021).

Treasurer- The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the league's finances, including reporting to the board and the membership and helping to develop the league's annual budget. Please note that we do have a bookkeeper who handles the day-to-day financial matters. This is a one-year term (2020-2021).

Development Director- The Development Director actively monitors development issues in and around our community and reports to the board and the membership on those issues. The Development Director also works with the board and volunteers to ensure that appropriate action is taken when necessary.

Program Director- The Program Director works with the board, volunteers, community members and others to develop and deliver a variety of social activities and other programming through the league.

Social Media & Communications- Like to share what's happening and engage with community members online and offline? Consider joining the board as our Social Media & Communications Director!

Director-at-Large- Have a special skill or ability you'd like to contribute to the board but don't see it above? Directors-at-Large are board members without portfolios who contribute however they can.
